In the early 90's, after graduating summa cum laude from Temple University, William shifted his career focus from music to computers and attended Columbia University's Center for Computer Technology and Applications, going on to found National Information Management Inc. of New York City. There he served as President for five years before narrowly escaping the September 11th tragedy. Starting in 2003 , he took over as Executive Vice President of Loyer TCG where he led the company's IT Governance practice. In early 2005, while continuing his strategic partnership with LoyerTCG, William founded an independent consulting practice that bears his name. His ideas, articles, and research on business intelligence has been used by academic institutions worldwide. |

His international business experience and exposure has been truly diverse: He has been featured on the cover of Japanese business magazine US Front-Line News, been a featured speaker at large conferences in the U.S and Asia, taught at Baruch University and Columbia University, and has written numerous cover and feature articles for Data Management Review (the leading journal of data warehousing) and Database Trends and Applications and other industry leading magazines. He currently serves as a Contributing Editor for Dashboard Insight Magazine. William has conducted research in South Korea, Japan, and the former Soviet Union , and assisted in yearly political research published by the Philadelphia Daily News. Mr. Laurent has been a fervent supporter of charitable organizations including the Citizen's Exchange Council, Amnesty International, The Sierra Club (Lifetime Member), The Asia Society, and most importantly, the Japan Society where he has been a Patron since 1999. Composing original music, piano, cooking, and creative writing continue to be his hobbies. For many years,he has studied Zen meditation with renowned and revered teachers; in late 2006, his Zen inspired book "Everyday Mindfullness" was self-published with Lulu Publishing.
